The Low Water Minnow is a finesse inshore baitfish pattern designed for shallow water, low tide, and pressured fish. Measuring approximately 2.5 inches in length, this fly closely matches common inshore forage while remaining subtle enough for clear water and high-pressure conditions.
Tied on a #2 saltwater hook and weighted with bead chain eyes, the Low Water Minnow offers a controlled sink rate and natural head-down posture that keeps the fly in the strike zone without digging too deep. A defining characteristic of this pattern is its soft brush head, which creates smooth, natural water displacement without excessive push, allowing the fly to track cleanly on slow strips and short twitches.
This pattern excels around dock lines, mangrove edges, shallow flats, and tidal creeks where fish are cautious and quick to spook. It is highly effective for snook, redfish, and speckled trout, and also translates well to other inshore predators that key in on subtle baitfish movement.
