The Crystal Midge is a flashy, high-confidence midge pattern built to imitate that tiny, translucent “bubble” look midges naturally have in the water. The glass bead adds a subtle shimmer and light refraction that stands out in cold, clear winter flows without looking unnatural.
According to American Angler, midges make up an estimated 22% of a trout’s diet — by far one of the most important food sources in most rivers and tailwaters. And because a lot of anglers still ignore flies smaller than a #16, trout often see fewer well-presented midges in these tiny sizes… which can mean more confident eats.
